We treat our patients with respect and dignity. As a small clinic, we spend our time where it is most important—on patient care! We are up-to-date on new therapies and treatments. We have someone available to answer the phone, greet our patients, and do our best to see our patients on time. Our staff takes the time to get to know you and your health. Same-day appointments are available.

There are many! Primary care providers help coordinate your care and medications. They are able to prescribe and refer you to the other facilities. Our clinic treats and manages a variety of issues. Please see the services FAQ below and services tab for more information.

Expand FAQsCollapse FAQs How can I join Rio Grande Family Medicine as a patient?

Please call (505) 224-7400 to schedule an appointment. If you have never been seen by our office before, your first visit will be an establishment visit. If you have another health issue too, please let the scheduler know ahead of time. If this is not scheduled, there will not be enough time to attend to this issue.

Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your visit in order to fill out paperwork. For convenience, forms for new patients are on our website under the forms tab. Please print the forms and complete them to bring to your first visit. The following is a list of other items you will need to bring:

  1. Insurance card
  2. Driver’s License/Identification
  3. Copayment (We accept MasterCard, Visa, Personal Checks and Cash
  4. Current prescription medication bottles or a list of medications including dosage
  5. Immunization record (required of all patients 18 years of age and under

It is also a helpful if you can bring your medical records.

Expand FAQsCollapse FAQs What do I need to bring and keep in mind before my visit?

It is important that you tell the scheduler everything you would like to be seen for. If you have an issue that was not communicated ahead of time, you will be asked to schedule another appointment.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your visit. If your address or insurance information has changed, let the front desk know. If you cannot make it on time, please read the lateness and cancellation policies below.

Expand FAQsCollapse FAQs I am scheduled for my annual physical/wellness visits. Can I also be seen for an acute health issue?

If you have an acute issue, please let the scheduler know before your annual wellness visit or physical. You may be asked to schedule a separate visit. If you discuss anything else, you may be billed a co-pay by Medicare or your insurance provider. For more information, please visit the forms tab and click on the Preventive Services Covered by the Affordable Care Act.

If you cannot make it to our office, let us know before 24 hours. If you do not cancel within this time there will be a $40.00 fee, because the slot could have gone to another patient in need of care.

We ask that you arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time. If you are more than 7 minutes late, you will have to reschedule.

We see all ages of patients, from infants to the elderly. We’re proud to help many generations within families. Kindly note, each provider may not be accepting new patients or comfortable seeing a certain group. Between them we are currently accepting new patients of all ages

In primary care we are able to do many procedures. This offers the convenience of being treated where you are comfortable and continuity of care. Check our services tab for a partial list. Please call to see if we can help you with your issue. A lot of the time, we can!

Expand FAQsCollapse FAQs What insurance plans do you accept?

Please check the news tab and click on We Accept New Patients to see what plans we take. However, there are kinds of plans within each carrier with differing levels of coverage. Contact your insurance plan to make sure you will be covered if you establish with our clinic.

Expand FAQsCollapse FAQs What is your prescription refill policy?

We ask that you call your pharmacist to request a refill. We will not call refills in directly from Rio Grande Family Medicine. Please allow up to 72 hours for refill requests.

Expand FAQsCollapse FAQs I have not been in to your office for over a year. Will you still refill my prescription?

We will not refill prescriptions for patients that have not been seen in over a year. The timeframe could be less depending on your condition. Your provider will let you know how often you should return for a follow-up visit.

Expand FAQsCollapse FAQs What is your narcotics policy?

As a rule, our providers do not prescribe narcotics for chronic care. We will be willing to see you for your other needs, but will refer you to a pain specialist for the narcotics management.

Please fax your medical records release form to 505-224-7404. A fee may apply.

Expand FAQsCollapse FAQs Are your providers on call if necessary?

We do have an emergency number for after hours. In many cases, the best course of action will be to go to urgent care or the emergency room. We will not refill most medications by phone.

Many of our providers are involved in exciting research with Albuquerque Clinical Trials. Please visit their website for more information.

We are centrally located in Albuquerque, in the Medical Arts Plaza. We are west of UNM and near many of the major hospitals. Please go to the contact tab for directions. We look forward to helping with your healthcare needs!
